This concert focuses on the human aspect of nature, for humanity is certainly a part of and connected to nature. We belong within it, but also actively try to stand apart from it. We hold a piece of nature when we hold fruit in our hands {In Manus Tuas, Caroline Shaw} and it is our hands that hold it. We even have relationships with each other that seem very rooted in “natural” relationships, between lovers {Only the Words Themselves. Kate Soper talks about this deeply} and parenting {Knights of the Strange, Chaya Czernowin}. Even the creative act, something that sometimes feels particularly human {Singing in the Dead of Night, Julia Wolfe} is something that is deeply natural.
